OUR VALUES
WORSHIP. Man's greatest privilege and opportunity to experience God is through worship. The people of St. Brendan's worship through the ageless traditions of the Church along with newer forms that are relevant to our modern/ postmodern culture. In all, we desire to be led by the Spirit who imparts life and power.
EVANGELICAL VIEW OF SCRIPTURE. The people of St. Brendan's hold a high view of Holy Scripture, that it contains all things pertinent to salvation and godly living. We are commited to the faithful reading, studying, teaching and preaching from the Holy Scriptures. Above all, we believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is necessary for salvation and eternal life.
RELATIONSHIPS. Christ taught that the world would know His people by the love that they show one another. The people of St. Brendan's weave a caring and mutually supportive community that reflects the love of Christ to the world.
CONTINUITY. The people of St. Brendan's are connected to the ancient/ modern church through apostolic succession and the wisdom and practices passed down through the ages. Wisdom and guidance are found foremost through the Holy Scriptures and after this, through the creeds, the writings of the "Church Fathers" and the liturgies of the Church. We particularly identify with the 5th - 12th century Celtic Church for it's unique and universally relevant perspectives and contributions.
RELEVANCE. The Church is in the world but not of the nature of the world. The people of St. Brendan's affirm that which is good and positive in the culture but also seek to exercise a redemptive influence on that which is fallen and in darkness.
BALANCE. The Church has a mandate to go out into the world to be salt proclaiming the good news and to be the incarnational ministry of Christ to lost and wounded souls outside its own circle of community. The Church is also called to gather finding nurture and strength in the manifested presence of Christ in the proclamation of the Gospel and in the Sacraments.
